Sad news to report this afternoon, as legendary comics creator Harvey Pekar passed away early Monday at his home in Cleveland.
Pekar was best known for his long-running and beloved series, American Splendor, which was eventually adapted into a 2003 film starring Paul Giamatti.
As many, more qualified people than I are saying today, Pekar showed the world that comics didn't have to be about capes and punching all the time. They could be introspective and personal and they could focus on the mundane; the small acts that comprise our lives every day.
There's plenty of reaction online, but this one's the best, so far.
